We presented ‘’ Shooting an Elephant’’ on 12 April. In my opinion we can do a better presentation but we will try to show good question and clear explanation to next presentation :D in addition thanks a lot Sonja because she always support us in during present short story and really useful feedback instead of my bad ideas about presentation.
Positive points
- Great thesis!
- A good point about there being no Burmese phrases, although there were some from Indian languages: coolie, mahout
- Ironies in the story pointed out
- Good to relate this story to his other, more famous novels,
- Good thematic division
- Elephant as imperialism an interesting interpretation
Points to improve
- Remember to make your summary interactive...
- Provide some sociohistoric context to enable the audience to understand in more depth
- More research was needed at times in order to make more convincing points
- Try to include some relevant quotations to bring your themes to life
- Pronunciation and grammar
- Make eye contact with the audience and try to move away from the desk a bit
It's great that you've posted your feedback here, other groups may be able to benefit as well...looking forward to the final ones! ;)
